Individualized non-invasive brain stimulation for depression

In this study, we want to learn if a new device that delivers weak electricity to the scalp can reduce symptoms of depression. This current study uses stimulation that is personalized for each participant. All participants receive this new form of stimulation and there is no placebo or inactive group.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 70 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

What will be asked of you

We will ask you questions about your mental health at multiple online and in-person visits. You will visit our research center in Chapel Hill for five consecutive days (Monday - Friday). Each visit lasts around 90-120 minutes. There will be 1, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12-week follow-ups with online questionnaires. For the 2-week follow-up, we will ask you to come to our research center for clinical assessment and brain recording.

  • You have Major Depressive Disorder

Not eligible if:

  • You have Bipolar disorder
