This is a study to find out how early life experiences and exposures can affect a child's likelihood to develop Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) . EoE is a disease that causes abdominal pain, vomiting, heartburn, failure to thrive, and esophageal inflammation in children. We want to learn if exposure to antibiotics, breastfeeding, exposure to pets, smoke, etc. have any relation to EoE.
If you are a young adult (age 18-25), you and your parent/guardian will be asked to provide some information about your medical history, early life exposures and basic demographics. You will be asked to submit a sample of saliva for a DNA test and a lost baby tooth. A member of the study team will call you to discuss your medical history and you, and your parent/guardian will be provided with a link to online questionnaires. If you are a parent of a child 17 years or younger, you will be asked to provide some information about medical history, early life exposures, and basic demographics. We will also ask permission for your child to submit a sample saliva for a DNA test and a lost baby tooth. A member of the study team will call you to discuss your child's medical history and you will be provided with a link to online questionnaires.
