Speech patterns in healthy adults

We are looking for people who have survived a stroke on the left side of the brain and also volunteers who have not had a stroke. We want to learn about typical speech variation and differences that occur due to stroke.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Weekend hours, if needed
  • In-home visits available

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

Participants will attend a 90-minute session to evaluate speech, language, hearing, and motor function. We will also ask you to take some surveys about you and your medical history.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You have had a stroke to left side of the brain

Not eligible if:

  • Did not speak English before the stroke

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • Are fluent in English

Not eligible if:

  • None
