Study of a Combination of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy for Bladder Cancer

This study is to test a combination of chemotherapy drugs with an immunotherapy drug (Nivolumab), which is experimental in patients with bladder cancer. The research is to determine if surgery for muscle invasive bladder can be delayed or avoided by treatment with this combination and how it would affect the quality of life and long-term survival of participants.

What will be asked of you

If you decide to participate in this study, you will have CT or MRI scans, cystoscopies, and physical examinations. At each visit, you will be asked questions about your health and your current medications.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You have urothelial cancer of the bladder
  • You have urothelial cancer of the prostate urethra in men
  • You have no metastatic disease

Not eligible if:

  • You've had previous treatment with systemic chemotherapy or radiation therapy for urothelial cancer
  • You have an additional malignancy that has progressed or required treatment in the last 3 years
  • You have any condition requiring systemic treatment with steroids
  • You have a history of autoimmune disease
