We are doing this study to test two programs that can help reduce stress and prevent chronic disease in people who are unemployed and looking for work.

Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)

North Carolina (Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Guilford, Orange, Person, Wake)

What will be asked of you

You will complete online questionnaires and a data collector will measure your weight and blood pressure when you join the study and at 3, 6, and 12 months. You will wear an accelerometer to track your physical activity for one week. You will also log your food for 3 days out of the same week.

Incentives

You will receive a $35 gift card for your first visit, $40 at 3 months, $50 at 6 months, and $60 at 12 months.

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

you receive employment services from a publicly-funded program
you are between 18-64 years old
you can speak and English
you are a resident of Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham, Guilford, Person, Orange, or Wake county

Not eligible if:

you are pregnant
you currently receiving disability benefits (temporary or permanent), or have you applied for disability benefits
you have an underlying chronic condition (please ask the study team for more details)
