How does fat impact brain metabolism?

The purpose of this research study is to examine the impact of fat exposure on sugar metabolism in the human brain.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 45 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

What will be asked of you

Each participant in this study will receive a glucose infusion, an MRI scan, and bloodwork. Participants in Aim 2 of the study will also receive a concentrated sugary drink and intravenous nutrition.

Approximately 3 months

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You are non-diabetic and normal weight
  • You are non-diabetic and overweight/obese

Not eligible if:

  • You are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding
  • You have claustrophobia
  • You have a pacemaker or some metal objects inside your body
  • You are allergic to eggs
