Undergraduate Student Exposure to UNC Medical School Curriculum

This study aims at assessing the impact of the UNC undergraduate course known as "ICMU 401: Patient Facilitator Internship". Undergraduate students at UNC Chapel Hill have the opportunity to take this course, in which they observe and partake in the medical school curriculum weekly. While the course has been very popular, its impact on students has yet to be fully assessed. This study will involve conducting individual interviews to better understand the impact of the ICMU experience on students who have completed ICMU. This will allow us to have a better understanding of ways to improve the ICMU experience and the impact that ICMU has had on students. Assessing these impacts will allow us to suggest why these types of experiences are important and how this type of course could be implemented at other universities.
