UNC Asthma Registry for Kids

We are creating and maintaining a registry of kids and teens with wheezing and/or asthma, as well as non-asthmatics (who will serve as the comparator group), seen at UNC clinics. This kind of registry will allow us to understand how wheezing and asthma changes over time in kids and teens. This registry will also help us identify which kids and teens are able to participate in future asthma research studies.

Age & Gender

  • 1 years ~ 18 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)

What will be asked of you

We will offer families whose child has been diagnosed with wheezing or asthma to come once a year for an in-person study visit. During your child's visit, we will ask you and your child or teen to fill out questionnaires related to environmental exposures and to wheezing or asthma. We will offer to do lung function testing in children greater than age 6. Participants can also choose to provide nasal samples, saliva samples and/or blood samples. For participants who do not have a history of asthma or wheezing, there will be a single study visit. Participants can provide nasal, saliva and/or blood samples.
