Social Presence and Reactions Study

We are doing a research study to learn more about how people make impressions on one another. We also want to learn how they think about social feedback and how this relates to how they think.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 35 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

During the study session, you will complete a video-recorded interview about your personal strengths and weaknesses. You will then receive feedback about your responses from a trained evaluator while in an MRI scanner. While in the scanner, we'll take some measurements of your heart rate and the electricity on the surface of your skin. You will also be asked to complete some cognitive tests and short questionnaires.

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • You are 18-35 years old
  • You have transportation to UNC campus
  • You can participate in an fMRI scan

Not eligible if:

  • You have a history of serious mental illness
  • You are claustrophobic
  • You have metal implants in body
