African-American Patriotism Study

The research project will also investigate how different manifestations of patriotism among organizers align with and potentially shift the organizing strategy within social movement organizations. I will explore (1) how tensions between Blackness, sexuality, and nation manifest in patriotic ideological development; and (2) whether these patriotic ideologies affect their visions (and praxis) for social change.
