Prenatal Heart Smart Study

UNC School of Nursing needs your help to better understand how daily physical activity affects cardiovascular health for high risk pregnant women who are in their third trimester and are receiving prenatal care at UNC Health.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Female

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Extended hours (M-F, early morning or evening)
  • Weekend hours, if needed

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

At each visit, you will meet with a member of the study team and fill out 2 questionnaires. Each visit will also involve some non-invasive body measurements (height, weight, blood pressure). These visits may take 1 to 2 hours. You will also be asked to do a study exercise at home. Your nurse health coach will help you set personalized exercise goals each week.

Looking for Healthy Volunteers

Requirements for healthy volunteers are different than for those with a specific condition. If you are interested in becoming a healthy volunteer for this study, use the below categories to determine if you are able to participate.

Able to participate:

  • You are less than 24 weeks pregnant
  • You are interested in starting a regular exercise routine
  • You are having one baby

Not eligible if:

  • You are not pregnant
  • You do not speak english
  • You are having more than one baby
  • You do not own or have access to smart phone device
  • You are planning to move away
