Wastewater interactions in a barrier island community

Forces driven by global climate change, coupled with human development have resulted in increased flooding and deteriorating water quality in Nags Head, NC and other barrier island communities because of repeated interactions between surface/groundwater and septic tank systems. This study will conduct a survey of property owners in Nags Head to better understand their attitudes, knowledge, and practices related to the wastewater treatment and these interactions.
