Many young athletes who tear their ACL have trouble getting back to sport or suffer a second ACL injury once they do. We aim to improve athletes' ability to get back to sport safely. We want to make the activities athletes perform in rehabilitation more closely match the demands of what they do once they return to their sport. We also aim to develop low-cost ways to measure how the knee is moving during those activities. *This study is a collaboration with the UNC Sports Medicine Institute*
At the first visit, you will meet a member of the study team and fill out questionnaires. You will perform walking, jumping, and cutting tasks using 3D motion capture technology. You will perform visual-cognitive tasks (like reaction time). You will also have your quad strength tested. At the second visit one week later, you will perform jumping and cutting tasks again.
Individuals between 7-17 years old will receive a $50 gift card for participating in the walking assessment. If you live >25 miles away from UNC, you will also be eligible for a one-time $25 travel voucher. , After completing the jumping assessment visits, you will receive a report outlining their performance on jumping and cutting tasks, strength testing and survey results (if interested).
