Latinos with Newly Diagnosed Type II Diabetes

In this study, we want to learn if regular contact with a community health worker (via telephone) influences follow-up diabetes care among Spanish-speaking/bilingual Latinos. (Hablamos espanol.)

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female

Location

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

If you decide to participate you will talk with a community health worker for about 20-minutes every couple of weeks.

Incentives

Materials from the American Diabetes Association upon request.

Total length of participation:
One or more 20-minute phone calls.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You are Hispanic/Latinx
  • Newly diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes
  • English or Spanish speaking

Not eligible if:

  • diagnosed with gestational diabetes
  • diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
