Electronic Data Capture (EDC) Systems: Analyzing the Needs of Clinical Research Study Staff

Despite their critical role in the success of clinical research studies, the information needs of clinical research study staff are poorly understood. Additionally, few studies have applied user-centered design methodologies to the development or improvement of electronic data capture systems (EDC) in clinical research. This study aims to (1) identify and analyze the information needs of clinical research study staff involved in prospective clinical research studies, and (2) to offer a set of key recommendations for the design of electronic data capture tools used in clinical research.
