Impact of the Uterine and Gut Microbiomes in Endometrial Cancer Development and Treatment

The purpose of this study is to learn more about how microbes in the uterus and gut (bacteria, viruses, fungi) influence the development and treatment of endometrial cancer.

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Female

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Visits can be combined with regular clinical appointments

North Carolina (Statewide)

What will be asked of you

The study involves blood and specimen collection, a one-time questionnaire, and collection of Clinical data from your medical records. All study visits will be piggybacked to already established appointments at UNC.

Total length of participation:
up to 5 years

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • you have newly diagnosed endometrial cancer
  • you have an Endometrial Cancer histology of endometrioid, serous, clear cell, or carcinosarcoma
  • you are to undergo hysterectomy and surgical staging at UNC-CH
  • you are willing and capable of providing informed consent, recognize the experimental nature of the trial, and sign the IRB-approved written consent documentations

Not eligible if:

  • you have used an Oral or parenteral antibiotic 4 weeks prior to surgery
