Registry for Adults With Plasma Cell Disorders.

The purpose of this research study is to create a registry of adults with plasma cell disorders to complete study assessments. These assessments will help us gather information on memory, mental health, and social support. We are also interested in exploring different factors that may affect the aging process.

Age & Gender

  • 18 years ~ 99 years
  • Male, Female, Gender Inclusive

Visit Availability

  • Standard business hours (M-F, 8-5)
  • Visits can be combined with regular clinical appointments

What will be asked of you

If you decide to take part, a member of the study team will ask you some questions about your normal activity and if you need assistance. You will then complete an activity that involves standing, sitting, and walking. We will also ask you some questions to measure your memory and concentration. You will also complete some questionnaires. These questionnaires takes approximately 15-25 minutes to complete. Optional blood and fecal samples will also be collected.

Total length of participation:
Assessments will be performed at enrollment, 3 months and 6 months after enrollment, and every 6 months thereafter, and at time points of clinical significance.

Looking for Specific Volunteers

Able to participate:

  • You have an outpatient appointment or are hospitalized inpatient at UNC Cancer Hospitals, or affiliated clinic settings.
  • You have a documented diagnosis of plasma cell disorder.
  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You read and speak English.

Not eligible if:

  • You have a psychiatric/behavioral illness or problem that the treating clinician feels would preclude successful participation in the study.
