We want to learn more about how hormones affect your mood during the menopause transition. We are looking for women ages 45-59 experiencing mood changes during the menopause transition to take part in this study.
The first study visit will include questionnaires to assess your current mood and medical history. If you are eligible, there will be a 4-week period where we will ask you to answer some questions and complete daily urine tests at home. Then, there will be 3 weeks each of wearing an estrogen patch and a patch with no active medication (placebo) with a 3-week break in between. We will also ask you to come to the laboratory to examine your brain activity using a non-invasive EEG cap while you are completing computerized tasks.
Participants will receive up to $650.
