We are trying to understand how blood clots form and use this information to prevent bleeding and clotting disorders
This study explores a few essential questions about improvisation. What is improvisation? How can practicing improvisation be beneficial for our lives, careers, and education? How could improvisation be taught in a classroom?
To evaluate the effectiveness of a brief alcohol intervention (BAI) vs. standard of care (SOC) to improve pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) use among men who have sex with men (MSM) with unhealthy alcohol use initiating or re-initiating PrEP in Vietnam.
To better understand the experiences of people with CIPO and to develop a new CIPO-specific Patient-Reported Outcome (PRO) questionnaire in order to collect information on visible signs and symptoms of relevance and importance in participants with CIPO. This questionnaire might be used in future clinical studies for CIPO.
This study will aim to better understand risk factors for longer recovery after concussion in children. It will involve tracking fatigue and other symptoms for 1 year following concussion to determine impact on the child and their schooling. We will also look at biomarkers through saliva samples to see if any genes may be associated with prolonged symptoms after concussion.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of an 8-week yoga mindfulness meditation to identify the relationship between mindfulness yoga and stress, depression, and anxiety. Participants: Forty- four women sports student-athletes ages 18 and over in their first two years of undergraduate study at ACC member universities within a four-hour drive of the home institution. This will allow for the delivery of PAUSE-Yoga materials. Participants will complete a survey prior to the program with demographic information and the following scales: Academic Identity Measurement Scale, Athlete Identity Measurement Scale, Exercise Identity Scale, Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale, The International Adjustment Disorder Questionnaire, Transition Plan, Subjective Physical and Mental Health, Social Support, and Resource List. Another survey will be administered post-program with the same scales as the pre-program. Eight, 45-minute Zoom yoga sessions will be completed over 8 weeks for the PAUSE- Yoga group.
We are surveying individuals with sickle cell disease (SCD) and/or parents of a child with SCD to get a sense of the types of treatment they would choose based on the harms and benefits of those treatment options. The proposed study will be designed to meet the following objectives: 1) Elicit individual respondent's maximum acceptable risk (MAR) for treatment benefits 2) Elicit individual respondent's minimum 3) Characterize heterogeneity in MARs and MABs among respondents
The purpose of the study is to use a diagnostic evaluation and genetic testing to confirm a diagnosis of Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia (PCD) or Primary Immune Deficiencies (PID) in subjects who have presented with suppurative lung disease.
Hunter Syndrome or Mucopolysaccharidosis II (MPS II) is a rare genetic disorder caused by decreased levels of a specific enzyme, iduronate-2-sulfatase. Lack of this enzyme causes buildup of large sugar molecules called glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). The build up of GAGs causes significant damage to the body and brain. This study is evaluating the use of JR-141, an enzyme replacement therapy, to provide the missing enzyme to the body. This allows for break down of the stored GAGs. JR-141 uses specific technology to cross the blood brain barrier so that the enzyme can get into the brain. JR-141 is expected to help both the cognitive (brain) and body effects of MPS II.
The primary purpose of this project is not research, but to build capacity through implementation science and support, and to use the naturally occurring scale-up of Triple P in NC and SC to generate insights about (1) organizational and system readiness, implementation capacities, and practices to support the successful and sustainable scale-up of evidence-based strategies like Triple P; (2) organizational capacities and practices to provide statewide intermediary supports for the successful and sustainable scale-up of evidence-based strategies like Triple P; (3) the feasibility, acceptability, appropriateness, and perceived utility of implementation processes and strategies to promote scale-up; and (4) the feasibility of measuring factors related to implementation and scale-up.
