The purpose of this research study is to better understand adolescent e-cigarette use behavior and decisions about their use. The information we learn from this research will help us develop new survey questions about e-cigarette use.
We are studying chemicals called per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in indoor environments such as homes. PFAS are manufactured chemicals used in a variety of consumer products because of their water- and stain-resistant and non-stick properties. Some PFAS compounds are associated with adverse health effects. However, there are few indoor PFAS measurements even though concentrations tend to be higher indoors than outdoors and people spend most of their time indoors. The goals of this study are to measure the levels of different PFAS in homes (specifically in indoor air, house dust, airborne particles, clothing, and on surfaces), to study the chemistry of PFAS indoors, and use what we learn to make better predictions of how people are exposed to PFAS.
The purpose of this study is to learn more about the challenges of providing supported employment services to justice-involved individuals with severe mental illnesses.
The purpose of this study is to collect evidence for or against the addition of olanzapine to standard nausea/vomiting prophylaxis in children receiving cyclophosphamide-based Bone Marrow Transplant conditioning. Health humanities aims to increase understanding of how models of disease, illness, health, and wellness shape understanding of the patient, caregiver, and community experience. Essentially, health humanities advocates for the humane care of the whole person; we assert that this helps furnish physicians with a purpose and protect against emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a decreased sense of personal accomplishment. A study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine demonstrated an association between humanities exposure and a lower level of adverse traits (one of which was burnout) in medical students. We aim to further this investigation of humanities and burnout in the medical field by specifically inspecting the relationship between health humanities engagement and levels of physician burnout. This study, in turn, will not only elucidate the effect of health humanities engagement on physician burnout but also have further implications for medical curriculums and the overall alleviation of physician burnout.
