The goal of this study is to find out if, and how, controlling childrens' temperatures by cooling their body in the days after cardiac arrest can help the brain recover. Cardiac arrest means that the heart stopped beating. Brain injury due to a cardiac arrest may prevent a child from waking up or doing the things they were able to do before the arrest. Brain injury may cause a child to have slower development and/or loss of previous skills controlled by the brain, such as talking, feeding themselves, thinking, and walking. This study will see if cooling a child a few degrees below normal temperature, called therapeutic hypothermia, will help improve a child's chance of recovering brain function after a cardiac arrest.

In low- and middle-income countries, many households rent accommodations and share water connections or facilities with many households. In these cases it is not clear how water costs and water quantity is divided amongst households. Moreover, it is not clear what kind of agreements renters have with their landlords for payments of water and using water. It is important to understand these arrangements in order to provide affordable water to all households.

This project will examine the effects of a comprehensive intervention that blends financial, advising, and social supports on outcomes for students at public 4-year institutions who have transferred from community colleges. The transfer, accelerate, complete, engage (TrACE) intervention will take place at several UNC System universities. Two cohorts of students will be offered access to the TrACE program-the first starting in Fall 2022 and the second starting in Fall 2023. TrACE supports last for two years. The research team will explore the effects of access to TrACE on long-run outcomes such as degree completion (2-year and 3-year rates).
The purpose of this study is the exploration of science identity formation in children and further, if a leisure activity such as watching cartoon television where cartoons are engaging in science activities would positively impact students' science identities. The theory behind this is students are seeing their cultural/racial/ethnic identities reflected in the characters who are engaging in science, which then provides science representation for youth that might not have more traditional forms of scientific representation.
