The purpose of this research is to understand students' experiences in the Scholar of Global Distinction Program and to provide new knowledge about the impact of a global education on students at community colleges. The information we learn from this study may help us determine how to better support students in the Scholar of Global Distinction. We will also be able to better support community colleges in their global and international efforts.
This case study will explore how the Lucasfilm Archive facilitates public access to its collections. "Access" for this study means how the archive makes their materials available for public consumption in print or on the Internet. The Archive's methods will have implications for other archives, both private and public.
The overall study objective is to determine the ability to achieve treatment free remission (TFR) in pediatric patients who discontinue their Tyrosine kinase inhibitor and to describe the effect of treatment free remission on quality of life measures and long term effects.
Does patient response to numbing of the skin prior to placement of a spinal or epidural for a cesarean delivery predict post cesarean pain?
A challenge in treating COVID-19 is early prediction of patient outcomes. Here, we develop a functional assay for patient risk stratification based on clinically observed, unique vascular signatures of COVID-19. We integrate data from this assay with patient process of care information to determine predictive metrics for risk stratification.
Using study data, we will assess associations between health information exposure and engagement in preventive behaviors. Using data collected at multiple timepoints, we will further determine whether changes in exposure to different types of information over time affect participant's participation in COVID-19 vaccination, as well as potential factors (ex. beliefs about COVID-19, participation in other preventive behaviors, intent to get a COVID-19 vaccination) that mediate this association. Findings from the proposed study will inform emerging literature on exposure to and effects of exposure to health (mis)information, as well as ongoing research seeking to aid in slowing the spread of COVID-19.
We are studying how preschool-aged children develop the ability to think about the future, such as planning for future events or delaying gratification. Parents of 3- to 5-year-old children will complete a questionnaire which contains questions about their child's ability to think about the future. By understanding how these skills develop, and what factors influence their development, we can design interventions to enhance children's early learning and development.
We are conducting a research study to determine whether the virus that causes COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) is present and viable in indoor air at a distance greater than 6 feet from people with active infections. To accomplish this, the research team will collect air samples with multiple sampling devices over a 4-5 hour period in the living environments of people with known SARS-CoV-2 infections. Sites include residence halls and homes (i.e., main living area) of people with active infections who are quarantining alone.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is two-fold: 1) to determine what leads citizens to vote for tough-on-crime candidates, and 2) to understand why voters comply with brokers during clientelist interactions in which political party operatives pay for their clients' votes.
This survey aims to evaluate outpatient pharmacists' attitudes and interest toward prescribing pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in North Carolina and knowledge of PrEP therapy and monitoring parameters. California and Colorado have passed legislation expanding the role of pharmacists in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) prevention to include prescriptive authority for PrEP. Pharmacists in North Carolina have prescriptive authority as Clinical Pharmacist Practitioners and are actively involved with harm reduction strategies including clean syringe programs and dispensing naloxone per standing order. Widening this scope to include pharmacist prescribing of PrEP may improve access for those at risk of contracting HIV.
