Multilevel factors of guideline-adherent Active Surveillance follow-up care for low-risk prostate cancer

More and more men are choosing active surveillance as a treatment method for low-risk prostate cancer. However, there is so much variation in active surveillance follow-up care. This study is to explore factors at multiple levels that influence follow-up care for low-risk prostate cancer patients who are on active surveillance.

Wastewater interactions in a barrier island community

Forces driven by global climate change, coupled with human development have resulted in increased flooding and deteriorating water quality in Nags Head, NC and other barrier island communities because of repeated interactions between surface/groundwater and septic tank systems. This study will conduct a survey of property owners in Nags Head to better understand their attitudes, knowledge, and practices related to the wastewater treatment and these interactions.

Caregiver-Students' Experiences Caring for a Child While Attending Online Classes during Online Learning Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic

When colleges move to remote-only instruction, students are expected to engage in online learning while engaging in social distancing in order to support public health. Many students are, in addition to being students, caregivers for children whom they will take care of while studying from home. A pilot study assessing p16 levels in patients with sickle cell disease at UNC

The primary purpose of this research study is to learn about how the level of a protein called p16 changes in the blood of children, adolescents, and adults with sickle cell disease. This protein can provide information about cellular aging which has not been studied before in patients with sickle cell disease. This can help develop future areas of research into sickle cell disease.

Symptom management needs of individuals with CF

The purpose of this research study is to collect information from adults with CF, caregivers of children and adults with CF, and CF care team members about symptoms experienced by people with CF and how they are managed (treated). We will use this information to help us develop guidelines for CF care programs to improve symptom management.
