This study is being done to answer the following question: Do two different anti-cancer drugs, paclitaxel (PTX) and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) have similar effects on treating KS in PLWH in sub-Saharan Africa? We are doing this study because we want to find out if one of these approaches, PTX or PLD, is better than the other for KS. Both drugs may be given as part of the usual approach for your KS. economic power and unequal state development

This study investigates whether and how local economic power explains the unequal state development in Chile. On the one hand, I intend to assess how close ties between businesspeople and mayors obstruct the state's efforts to improve social services and goods for the population. On the other hand, I aim to study how these close linkages curb the extent that local politicians invest in a better capacity to collect money from taxes.

Women's Police Stations in Latin America

Women's Police Stations were established in Brazil in 1985 to respond to reports of violence against women. Since then, they have spread throughout Latin America, but they take different forms. I am interested in seeing what may make some Women's Police Stations more effective than others. It is important to know the conditions under which these stations do their jobs, to prevent and respond to violence against women.

ACE Project

The first 2,000 days are critical periods of child development, laying the foundation for young children's cognitive, language, and socio-emotional development. This age span is also a critical period for racial identity. Positive racial identity has been linked to Black children's achievement and socio-emotional.iii Research has found that when Black children receive messages about having positive self-worth and self-identity, balanced with messages about racial inequalities, this results in joyful learning and socio-emotional outcomes, iiiiv academic curiosity, and persistence.v Thus, a focus on positive racial identity may be one particular strategy to ensure the healthy development and learning for Black children to combat against racism and biases they are likely to experience. As evidenced by the planning grant data, Black children experience different forms of racism and inequities in their household and learning environments. We hypothesize that attending to culturally responsive teaching, and more precisely, African-centered teaching practices, is a more effective
