This project will conduct interviews with key stakeholders in selected cities to build on our ongoing research and expertise related to protest, policing, and race. We will focus on four areas of policy response and institutional change: (1) officer training and support, (2) policing practices and techniques, (3) transparency and accountability, and (4) funding and responsibilities. Our project will generate high quality, publicly available reports on protest and policing, and we will assess the impact of protest on changes in policing alongside other major explanatory factors to provide rigorous analyses that can inform scholarship and broader understanding of this movement and its significance.
