Use of a 3 Tesla and 7 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging Systems to Image Normal Volunteers

The purpose of this study is to determine which new magnetic resonance sequences provide better, faster and more useful information. A sequence is a distinct method of obtaining magnetic resonance (MR) images. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) exam is made up of many different imaging sequences. These new sequences will be implemented on either on a 3 Tesla (3T) MR system, a 7 Tesla (7T) MR system (single- or multi- transmit), or both. Since the signal-to-noise ratio for MR images is highly dependent on the magnetic field strength, the anticipated signal-to-noise will be 7T greater than 3T and 3T greater than 1.5T systems. The 3T MR system is FDA approved whereas the 7T system is not FDA approved, but is built to the same standards as other FDA approved scanners. In addition, the FDA has approved magnetic field strength up to 8T for human imaging. Participants will be told ahead

EGID Partners

EGID Partners is an online cohort of patients with eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases (EGIDs), like eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), eosinophilic gastritic (EG), eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE), and/or eosinophilic colitis (EC). It is a way to conduct important clinical research through surveys, and by filling out the initial survey, as well as follow-up surveys every 6 months, you can help answer important questions about living with EGIDs. We are also looking for people without EGIDs to provide information as well, so we can make comparisons between those do and don't have EGIDs. Adults as well as parents/caregivers of children are eligible. Find out more at www.egidpartners.org

Understanding Target Variable Selection in Machine Learning Model Development

Predictive modeling has recently attracted a lot of attention from organizations trying to leverage AI and big data to improve their work processes such as decision-making. However, real-world problems are rarely well-formulated machine learning problems. Practitioners have to supply a well-defined predictive target to operationalize a predictive model. In such cases, they often resort to using observed variables to approximate the actual construct of interest. For example, people have used high sales numbers as a proxy for a good employee. Proxy label selection is a recurring challenge when predictive ML is applied to real-world problems. The purpose of this interview study is to understand how ML practitioners select proxy labels, evaluate proxy labels, and iterate through the different tasks involved.

UNC Ankle GO

There are 3 primary aims of this study: 1) Observe the status of individuals, of all age, sports, activities, on key patient reported outcomes and measures of neuromuscular control when the reach different return to activity milestones following an ankle sprain as determined by themselves, parents, and/or medical provider. 2) To develop a normative database of scores for the key patient reported outcomes and measures of neuromuscular control for individuals of all ages, sports, and activities to help individuals determine if / how well they have recovered from their ankle sprain. 3) Determine if the key patient reported outcomes and measures of neuromuscular control can predict risk of reinjury when individuals, of all ages, sports, activities, return to sport following an ankle sprain.
