VR and Parenting

We are recruiting mothers who have a child aged 2-6 years old to participate in an hour-long study about how parents respond to children's tantrum behavior when they view it in a traditional video versus virtual reality video. Our study includes both mothers who are in recovery from a substance use disorder as well as those who have never had a subtance use disorder. The study will take place at UNC-CH and take about one hour. Free parking and a $30 incentive will be provided to participants.

Everyday Couples Interactions

The purpose of this study is to examine the ways that simple interactions between individuals in a romantic relationship are related to their well-being. At the lab session, we will invite you to have conversations about specified topics you might routinely discuss with your partner and ask you about your thoughts and feelings related to those conversations.

PRACTICE EXPERIENCES FOR SCHOOL REINTEGRATION

This study is creating and improving a program that will be used during inpatient treatment to help better teach skills in virtual school settings for adolescents hospitalized for suicide-related crises.

The Effect of Carbon Fiber Shoes on Running Economy

Are you a trained male runner interested in how to get an edge on the competition? A group of researchers in the EXSS department is investigating the benefit of carbon fiber-plated running shoes on running economy (efficiency). All participants will receive personal VO2max, gait analysis and kinematic data upon completion of the study. Participants must have run an 18:00 5k (males) or 21:00 5K (females), or a comparable performance in another distance event in the past year.

Net-Q: Network Questionnaire of Personal Connections for Minority Men and Transgender Women

The purpose of this research study is to learn about HIV transmission and strategies for prevention. We are looking for people living with or at risk for HIV in the Raleigh area and learning more about the people they know in the community.

Long-term immunologic responses to COVID-19 infection and vaccination

Have you been infected with COVID-19? Are you a solid organ transplant recipient? Have you or your child received a COVID-19 vaccine or are planning to receive one? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a research study that will assess your immune response to COVID-19 infection or vaccination over a 5 year period. We are looking for children and adults aged 7-95 years, and plan to collect blood every 2-6 months over the study period. (Compensation provided for the first year).

Breaking-Up Sedentary Behavior Study

Do you sit too much at work or home? There is strong evidence for an association between sitting and cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and stroke. In this study, we want to identify strategies to break up sitting for long periods of time. Compensation will be provided.
