This study is for folks who are interested in generally advancing knowledge about blood coagulation and are willing to have their blood drawn. This information will not be helpful for diagnosing any specific individual but rather is about helping everyone by improving general knowledge.

Are you a current or former smoker coming to UNC for lung cancer screening, planning to have surgery to determine if you have lung cancer, or have you been recently diagnosed with lung cancer? You may be able to take part in a research study to help develop a blood test that could improve early detection of lung cancer tumors. Compensation provided.

Are you between ages 45-59 and experiencing mood changes in the menopause transition? Help us learn more about how hormones affect mood and brain activity!

Are you a trained male runner interested in how to get an edge on the competition? A group of researchers in the EXSS department is investigating the benefit of carbon fiber-plated running shoes on running economy (efficiency). All participants will receive personal VO2max, gait analysis and kinematic data upon completion of the study. Participants must have run an 18:00 5k (males) or 21:00 5K (females), or a comparable performance in another distance event in the past year.

Have you been infected with COVID-19? Are you a solid organ transplant recipient? Have you or your child received a COVID-19 vaccine or are planning to receive one? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a research study that will assess your immune response to COVID-19 infection or vaccination over a 5 year period. We are looking for children and adults aged 7-95 years, and plan to collect blood every 2-6 months over the study period. (Compensation provided for the first year).

Do you sit too much at work or home? There is strong evidence for an association between sitting and cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease and stroke. In this study, we want to identify strategies to break up sitting for long periods of time. Compensation will be provided.

Are you between the ages of 40 and 60? Participate in a study exploring the perceptions of health messages and how we can promote healthier lifestyles for people of all backgrounds. Compensation provided.

Are you pregnant? If you are in your 3rd trimester, you may be able to take part in a research study. In this study, we want to learn more about how different kinds of exercise can help reduce risk for high blood pressure in pregnancy and other possible pregnancy complications.
